(Feb 2008) Headed up by Alex Balunsat. Results from DNA samples from members will be posted as they become available. The Y-chromosome is passed from father to son unchanged, except for the occasional mutation. Testing the Y-chromosome will provide you with a genetic finger print consisting of 12, 25, 37, or 67 numbers. By comparing this finger print to others with your surname, you can determine if they are related. Group discount on DNA Marker Tests for tracing genealogy are available. Results: 4-9-2008So far, based on a simple 12 marker Y-dna marker test, it is interesting to note that there appears to be some dna links to Micronesia , and Polynesia, which I had had suspected from the Gaddang Tribe, since I had noticed from earlier research the Linguistic similarities as well as physical attributes. Earlier matches seem to indicate the Balunsat surname origins to Eastern Europe. The 4th step mutations appear to be predominately I1b (Eastern European). This gives credence to the prediction of other family members that the Balunsat's were of Greek ancestry. The Balansat's from Ibiza may have been of Greek ancestry, since Ibiza was colonized by Greeks *You must log in to view DNA results. If you are not a member, please register.
